How to Be a Ballet
Dancer / Ballerina
Welcome to Christy Curtis's dance classes for kids. Learn along with these other students
in the video lessons for tap, jazz, and ballet. Each segment is
helpfully repetitive and, unlike a real class, there's always the replay
button! Perfect for parents trying to gauge their youngster's interest
in dance before making an investment in classes or to those who want to
share the joy of dancing. 102 minutes.
Miss Christy's Dance Class - Jazz, Tap & Ballet
Jazz: Perfect for boys and girls! The girls wear traditional
leotards, but the baggy clothes that the boys wear have turned this
video into a "hip hop" learning experience for all ages too!
Miss Christy teaches the basic steps, a few at a time, slowly at first
and progressively speeding it up for more of a challenge. In not time,
your children will be DANCIN! Tap: At any age, learning to tap dance is
lots of fun and great exercise, but for children ages 6 and up, it is
also a wonderful way to develop coordination and balance, rhythm, speed,
and to develop or improve timing, strength, and agility. Tap is the
all-American form of musical theatre expression. Ballet: This program is
structured just like a formal ballet class, featuring exercises at the
barre, port-de-bras, center, and traveling moves. Whether learning,
practicing, or just for plain fun, this is a program your future
ballerina will watch over and over again because Christy makes ballet
fun and easy!

I'm a Ballerina Now
Hip Hop ShopHip Hop Shop's winning equation: 10 dance
moves, a few cute and talented kids, three pro teachers (including the
pioneering CrazyLegs of Rock Steady Crew), and one infectious
philosophy: Hip hop's all about "the flavor you bring to the
dance." You gotta have "flow." You also oughta have ready
access to the rewind button to replay the instructions a few hundred
times. While the steps are broken down to kid-friendly basics, the
action can seem head-turningly complicated. The six hip-hop moves are
the most accessible, while the break dancing sometimes appears comically
confusing. Yet the precocious backup dancers, regular-looking kids who
mirror the video's target age of 5 to 12, make all the right moves,

Budding ballerinas ages 4 to 6 receive a thorough
introduction to ballet at the tutelage of "Miss Rosemary" Boross in
this 36-minute video. The program features Rosemary Boross, a student helper,
and a small class of preschool age dancers as they explore the basics of warming
up at the barre, stretching, center work, dancing across the floor, and revrnce.
Miss Rosemary first describes and demonstrates steps like pli, tendu, sut,
chass, and grande jet, then leads her class through each step to the
accompaniment of original piano music by Bruce Stephen Foster. Because the
program covers a large variety of steps and progresses fairly quickly, it is
most effective when used in conjunction with enrollment in an introductory
ballet class. Alternately, young dancers may want to view...
How to Be a Ballerina

dance steps with graceful movement to create five simple yet effective

Get ready to dance! It's a toe-tapping,
finger-snapping good time when Paula Abdul gives Zoe her very first
dance lesson! Soon Sesame Street's favorite ballerina is learning how to

African drum, be grand with her hands in an Asian dance, and just have
fun with Zoe's own Silly Willy Nilly dance. And, that's not all! When
Zoe's best friend Elmo joins in, everyone moves and grooves to a
hip-hop, feel-good finale that will get you up and dancing along!
